Our mission

Preserve the lineage: Gyudmed’s teachings, rituals, and sacred arts, kept alive as Je Tsongkhapa passed them down.
Provide a place of practice: Daily prayer, pujas, meditation, and study — open to monks and lay practitioners alike.
Support the community: Sustaining bonds, language, and tradition for Tibetans in the New York area.
Educate & welcome newcomers: Sharing Buddhist wisdom with all who are curious, honouring its depth.
Sustain monks & temple: Relying, like our root monastery, on supporters’ generosity.

The New York branch of Gyudmed Monastery — one of the two great tantric colleges of the Gelug school — open to everyone.
